Used or Reconditioned — Which T-Roc Engine to Buy?

Used T-Roc engines

For EA888 (2.0 TSI) — a VERIFIED-status hub with Very High demand — reconditioned units offer greater reliability assurance. For EA211 and EA288 (PENDING-status hubs), used engines are more readily available and cost-effective, but reconditioned options provide warranty coverage. Used units offer a cost-effective solution for lower-mileage replacements. Most used T-Roc engines come from UK breakers with a 30–90 day warranty. We always recommend a thorough inspection and service before installation.

Reconditioned T-Roc engines

For EA888 (2.0 TSI) — a VERIFIED-status hub with Very High demand — reconditioned units offer greater reliability assurance. For EA211 and EA288 (PENDING-status hubs), used engines are more readily available and cost-effective, but reconditioned options provide warranty coverage. Reconditioned T-Roc engines provide a higher level of reliability, especially for high-mileage examples. Each unit is disassembled, cleaned, and rebuilt to factory tolerances with new bearings, rings, and gaskets. Reconditioned units include a standard GMC warranty and are ready to fit.

T-Roc Engines Through the Generations

T-Roc

T-Roc

The T-Roc launched in the UK in November 2017 on the Volkswagen Group MQB A1 platform, shared with the Golf Mk7. Initial engine offerings were exclusively petrol: 1.0 TSI (110–115 PS), 1.5 TSI EVO (148–150 PS) and 2.0 TSI (187–190 PS). A 2.0 TDI 150 PS diesel joined in December 2017, followed by a 1.6 TDI 115 PS in August 2018. The range-topping T-Roc R arrived in September 2019, powered by a 300 PS 2.0 TSI. A mid-cycle refresh arrived in Spring 2022 with exterior styling and interior tech updates. The engine line-up remained substantively unchanged, with the same petrol and diesel options carried over. The 1.0 TSI, 1.5 TSI EVO, 2.0 TSI and 2.0 TDI continued as the core powertrains, with the T-Roc R retaining its 300 PS 2.0 TSI.

T-Roc Engine Buying FAQs

A

The T-Roc was offered with a range of petrol and diesel engines across its 2017–2025 UK production run. Petrol options included 1.0 TSI (110–115 PS), 1.5 TSI EVO (148–150 PS), 2.0 TSI (187–190 PS) and 2.0 TSI (300 PS, T-Roc R only). Diesel options included 1.6 TDI (114 PS) and 2.0 TDI in 115 PS and 150 PS tune. Three distinct families are represented in the T-Roc range.

A

The engine code is printed on the vehicle's V5C registration document in the engine number field. It can also be found on a sticker in the spare wheel well or on the timing belt cover. For T-Roc models, common codes include CHYA/CHZB (1.0 TSI), DADA/DADB/DXDB (1.5 TSI), CZPB/DNN (2.0 TSI), DNFC (T-Roc R), and DTTC/DTRD (2.0 TDI). If the registration falls near a model-year transition, cross-check the chassis code with the tables above.

A

This depends on the specific hub. Specific pricing and availability should be checked against current listings.

A

GMC supplies each engine with a stated warranty period and fixed delivery cost, clearly displayed on the listing page. All engines are inspected and tested before dispatch. Full terms are provided at point of purchase.
