Due to the extremely limited production numbers of both the E39 M5 and Z8, reconditioned units are the primary supply route for the S62 — used units are scarce and command premium pricing. Both groups favour reconditioned units given the specialist nature of the application and the high value of the host vehicles. The S62 is BMW M-division's 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine, produced exclusively for the E39 M5 and Z8 from 2000 to 2003. With only around 20,000 E39 M5s and fewer than 6,000 Z8s produced worldwide, replacement engines are scarce. Common wear points include VANOS system degradation, timing chain guide wear, and oil pump failures at high mileage. Every unit we supply has the VANOS system rebuilt, timing chain guides renewed, and oil pump inspected as standard before dispatch.

A:S62B50 — the "B50" denotes 5.0-litre displacement. The S62 is M-division's naturally aspirated V8 based on the M62 but with significant internal modifications.
A:Reconditioned units are strongly recommended for the S62 given the limited supply of used units and the specialist nature of the engine. Our recon units include full VANOS rebuild and timing chain renewal.
