For the E46 3 Series — the highest-volume M47 application — used units are widely available and represent excellent value from £695. For 5 Series and X3 applications, and for reconditioned units across all groups, the lower donor volume or higher vehicle value makes reconditioned units a more common choice. The M47 is BMW's 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine produced from 1999 to 2007, fitted to the E46 3 Series, E39/E60 5 Series, and E83 X3. The second-generation M47TUD20 (common-rail) is the most common version in the UK. Common wear points include turbocharger degradation, EGR valve clogging, and injector wear on higher-mileage examples. Every unit we supply has the turbo, injectors, and EGR system inspected and renewed as standard before dispatch.
