For longitudinal applications (C-Class, E-Class, GLC — Group 1), used units are the primary supply with good availability from donor vehicles. For transverse applications (A-Class, CLA, GLA, GLB — Group 2), reconditioned units are more commonly selected as used transverse M260 supply is thinner in the UK market. The M264 is Mercedes' current-generation turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, introduced to replace the M274 with 48V mild-hybrid technology and improved efficiency. Replacement demand is driven by timing chain tensioner wear at higher mileages and, in some cases, cylinder head / exhaust valve issues reported from around 40,000 miles. Every unit we supply has the timing chain and tensioner inspected and the cylinder head checked as standard before dispatch.
