    For high-volume compact longitudinal applications (Groups 1 and 3\) and transverse UKL applications (Group 4), used units are widely available and offer strong value. For executive longitudinal applications (Group 2\) and MINI transverse (Group 5), reconditioned units are more commonly selected given higher vehicle value and lower used-unit availability. Used is ideal for high-volume models like the 320d and X3; recon gives extra peace of mind for 5/7 Series and MINI. The B47 replaced the N47 in 2014 with the timing chain relocated to the front of the engine, improving durability and serviceability. Replacement demand is driven by EGR cooler failures (subject to recalls), DPF clogging on city-driven cars, and timing chain wear at very high mileage. A prepared B47 unit addresses these wear points with renewed timing components, inspected EGR/cooling systems, and tested DPF/emissions hardware as standard.
