For the F20/F21 1 Series — the highest-volume B37 application — used units are widely available and represent excellent value from £1,700. For F40 1 Series, X1, and reconditioned units across all groups, the lower donor volume or newer vehicle age makes reconditioned units a more common choice. For older 1 Series models, used offers the best value; for newer or SUV applications, reconditioned provides extra peace of mind. The B37 is BMW's 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbodiesel engine from the modular B-family, produced from 2014 onwards. It powers the F20/F21 1 Series, F40 1 Series, F45/F46 2 Series Tourer, and F48 X1, as well as MINI Cooper D models. Common wear points include EGR system clogging (particularly on pre-2017 units, subject to a recall campaign), piezo injector sensitivity, and timing chain stretch on higher-mileage examples. Every unit we supply has the EGR system inspected, injectors tested, and timing chain checked as standard before dispatch.
